Randall (Randy) Franklin Livingstone August 15, 1962 – January 16, 2006 Memorial on Driver of the Week - December 2006
 Trucker Radio
Randall Livingstone was a professional driver from 2001 until January of 2006. Randy was my husband for almost 16 years and the father to our three children. Randy had a heart attack while sitting in the seat of the truck and died instantly. He had an angel who helped guide him safely off the road without harming a soul.
I am writing this tribute today for him because I miss him so much and want people to learn two things. How absolutely wonderful my husband was and how short life can be.

Randy went back to school at the age of 38 to get his class 1 drivers license so that he could fulfill a childhood dream of driving a big rig. While in school, his mother passed away unexpectedly and suddenly. Even amidst this devastating time in his life, he still passed his written exams with flying colors and passed the driving test with no errors the first time he took it.

He drove for several companies in his 5 year career, his last position being for Timmer Trucking through Arnold Bros. Transport. He loved to drive and took his job very seriously. He took the term, "professional transport operator" quite literally and absolutely never referred to himself as just a trucker.

He loved his children and spent time on the phone with them, brought them home little treats from the road and spent so much time hugging and hanging out with them when he was home. He was a wonderful father and a kind and loving husband. He had a kind of patience that I could only dream of, and a sense of humour that you would never forget.

I wrote this poem in 2003 after he left on one of his 2 week trips.

 He's gone again
 His bags are packed
 and sitting by the door
 He's showered, shaved
 and pressed and dressed

 The children are playing
 quietly on the floor
 I sigh and wish
 he didn't have to go

 Logs books? Check
 Thermos? Check
 Munchies? Brush? Pillow?
 Check, check, check

 The parting ritual
 has become so routine
 I wonder why
 it still hurts so much

 Daddy says 'Time to go'
 The kids run over
 smothering him with
 Hugs and Kisses

 'Love you dad!'
 'Love you daddy!'
 Their voices echo
 in my mind

 I hold him close
 and breathe deeply
 I don't want to forget
 how he feels and smells

 I say
 Drive safe
 Call often
 I'll miss you

 As my knight
 heads off
 for the open road...
 yet again.

Never forget how short life can be. Treasure the loved ones in your life as often as you can and you will have no regrets.

Randy, we miss you so much.
 Your loving wife and children.
