A Trucker's Wife
I wrote this for my husband who I love very much and
didn't know how to tell him. How can I live when you're never there?
You're out there driving I never know where.
It's hard to be a trucker's wife.
When you're always gone from our life.
Living life phone call to phone call.
Not knowing what to say at all.
Having so much on my mind to say.
Thinking I’ll just say it another day.
My heart skips beat with every ring of the phone.
I don't want to get the call that says you're not coming home.
I just want to hold you close.
Feel your body close to mine.
I'll get the chance I suppose.
I just have to give it some time.
You'll be home soon I know.
I'll see you for awhile then you'll have to go.
No matter what I’ll always be here.
Waiting and holding back the tears.
I'll always hold my head up high.
Looking for the silver lining in the sky.
I'll love you for the rest of my life.
And I’ll always be proud to be a trucker's wife.
