We hate to be away from home so much
never having time to be home for lunch.

To sleep in our own beds
to rest our tired heads.

We miss our children's lives as they grow
and they don't do it slow.

We get really tired but can't stop
there is another load to drop.

We speed up for hills to make it to the top
only to have a slow car make us almost stop.

A vacation for us is to be home
instead of sleeping on foam.

Whatever you use we deliver
and it can't be there whenever.

There are time limits we have to follow
and keep going till our trailers are hollow.

It's lonely out here
we would rather be there.

Whatever we carry where ever we go
a lot of people just don't know.

Stupid things they do around a big truck
sometimes will bring them bad luck.

To pass on the inside is suicide.
These trucks can't stop on a dime
they really need time.

You want them to go slow and hurry up
Not be on the roads in your way
But have the items you want in the stores
on your grocery day.

If people just really thought about
how things get to and from different places.
They would realize that TRUCKERS are the aces.

They give up so much to get so little.
They are blamed for anything that happens
even though not their fault.

So next time you see a big rig.
Give them a wave or a horn toot
Let them know you give a hoot.

Know that they probably haven't seen
their families in weeks.
Just to get your home set up
or your food in stores.
The next DVD you want or the new jeans.

Even to the fuel you need to use in your car
that you use to pass these trucks.
Only to complain they are in your way.
After long hours and small pay.
